Description
The town is situated on the shores of Lake Tałty and Lake Mikołajskie. The former is the deepest channel lake in the Land of the Great Masurian Lakes.
There was originally an Old Prussian settlement on the site of today’s town. The town owes its name to the patron saint of the church, Saint Nicholas.
The town was first mentioned in 1444, and just over twenty years later the area was a fief under the rule of the Teutonic Knights.
In the first half of the 19th century, the town clearly revived due to the establishment of sailing in Masuria, and three years before the outbreak of the First World War, the town gained a railway connection with Orzysz and Mrągowo. These events had a great impact on the dynamic development of Mikolajki.
This is a great gift idea for travel and tourism lovers.
